One of the hardest parts about adopting a new eating plan is finding healthy and tasty foods, more specifically snacks. During the past few weeks, I have made a lot of changes in my diet. Surprisingly, one of the most pleasant surprises has been in the quality of the snacks that I eat. I threw out the garbage and ended up discovering a new world of healthy snacks that has been leaving me feeling more than satisfied. Here are 5 healthy snacks under 100 calories that will help to combat your hunger.
1. Quaker Chewy 90 Calorie Granola Bars in Oatmeal Raisin
These bit sized bars are surprisingly good and not that bad for you. They also have a lot of other benefits: low fat, lots of calcium, and no trans fat.
Not a fan of raisins? These bars come in a variety of flavors including Chocolate Chunk, Dark Chocolate Cherry, Honey Nut, and Peanut Butter.
2. Nabisco 100 Calorie Snack Packs
Let's face it, sometimes those cravings for something sweet just won't go away. Last week, I purchased the chocolate chip variety of this product and it was pretty good. The best thing is that the size of the cookies is small and there is a decent amount of them in each package. This helps to make you feel full after you finish eating them.
Although the ingredients in these cookies are not the best, it still works for when the cravings won't go away.
Oranges contain potassium, fiber, and Vitamin C. I recently purchased a medium sized orange from my local Wal-Mart store for $.50. Not only was it delicious (and once again satisfying as a quick snack), but it only contained roughly 75 calories (online calorie sources vary).
4. Quaker Instant Maple No Sugar
In a hurry in the morning and looking for a quick fix? A packet of this oatmeal only contains 100 calories in addition to protein, fiber, and iron.
5. Dannon Light 'N Fit Non Raspberry Yogurt
I love yogurt, but unfortunately a lot of it has so many calories (and sugar) packed into a 6 oz. cup. Dannon offers an healthier alternative with their flavor varieties that only contain 80 calories. The main benefits to this product (aside from taste) is that it is low in cholesterol, high in calcium, and high in Vitamin B12.
