Motivational Quote of the Day

What's different about this time as opposed to the other times I have started a weight loss journey?

I have started off strong before.  I have lost ten, twenty, and even thirty pounds before just to gain it back.  I have used every thing from being around for my family to the perfect vision of a healthy me in the future as motivation. 

This time I am at a point where I can no longer lie to myself.   I am thirty years old and in the worst shape of my life.  I have broken zippers and popped buttons off of various pieces of clothing.  I no longer feel attractive to myself.  I have trouble doing simple tasks like painting my toes. 

I am sick of it and I am ready to be honest and lose this weight.

It started with a walk....

I think I'm like most people. I know I need to lose weight. I know I need to exercise.  I know I should limit carbohydrates and saturated fats. I know! I know! I know!


Truthfully, getting started is the hard part.  I left work at little early and I wanted to "move."  I just felt like taking a walk.  The weather was beautiful and my Pandora was blasting.  It felt great!

Shake Off Those Couch Crumbs



Remember the old Everest College commercial where the guy points at the camera and says "hey you- the one on the couch- why don't you get up and do something with your life" (or something like that).  That's how I feel today.  It has been forever and a day (perhaps more like a year or so) since I posted anything on this blog and for the most part my goals are still the same as when I started my journey.  I want to be healthy...I want to be in shape....I'm still working on losing weight.

The truth is that weight loss is never easy.  There will always be something in our lives- children, family, or work- that will kept us on the proverbial couch.  No one can make us get up until we are ready.  My challenge to everyone reading this post and myself is to get up off the couch today and do SOMETHING beneficial for your health.
